Jensen S-type, X-type & H-type
1937 - 1946
production number: 68
In 1936 the Jensen 3 ½ liter (S-Type) became available as an Open Tourer, Saloon or Two Door Drophead. All were fitted with a Ford V8 side valve engine (3,622 cc) and a “two-speed” rear axle.
A smaller sedan was offered in 1937. This was known as the Jensen 2¼ liter (X-type). However, this type was too small and too expensive and quickly went out of production.
In 1938 Jensen unveiled the largest passenger car ever made under their name; the Jensen 4¼ liter (H-type). These, like the 3½ litre, were offered in Tourer, Sedan and Drophead, but one Fixed Roof Coupé (HC type) was also made.
The H-Types were all powered by a Nash Straight 8 engine except for one that had a Lincoln V-12 built in. This then became the only HL-Type ever made. The HL and HC are still in good condition and are regularly ridden.
