Jensen Interceptor
1950 - 1958
production number: 88
The first Jensen model to be made in larger numbers was the so-called “Early” Interceptor. It was a 4/5 seater and available as a closed two door sedan or as a convertible with a special folding rear window.
This Jensen was made of aluminum on an Austin A70 chassis modified by Jensen. The entire powertrain, engine and transmission came from Austin. 88 pieces of this Interceptor were made. From research by Richard Calver, we can say that a maximum of 55 saloons were made and a minimum of 31 convertibles. 2 Sedanca versions were also made.
As an exception to the rule we find two Early Interceptors with a Chrysler V8 engine. One of these two is still in perfect condition and, like every Jensen, still a pleasure to drive.
